A very good story. This book is a wonderful read. Mr. Londergan brings history to life. His depiction of life in colonial Massachusetts is right on. It reminded me of Kenneth Roberts classic story Arundel  but much easier to read. One of the best historical novels of this era. I hope there are many more coming.

It brought me closer to the men and women of the first and second settlement, the harsh realities of the life in those times, and the enduring spirit of family that drove the expansion westward.

So realistic. I loved this book as I did the first. Especially the fact that I know all the areas that this took place in. I only live a few towns away and I can pronounce the names appropriately. I felt like I was there with them. I wish that more books could be written about some of the history that took place in our towns. I also love the way he writes. His story line is fantastic.

Enjoyable Novel! I enjoyed The Long Journey Home. This is a sequel to Devil's Elbow and really summed up the historical events of the main character's life. I really liked the setting in central and western MA and the historical references. Good read!
